David Bushta, a Rutgers‒Camden senior majoring in computer science, has received the Future Leader Award from the Society of Information Management’s Philadelphia chapter.

As a research assistant for Sunil Shende, a Rutgers‒Camden associate professor of computer science, Bushta is currently working on a National Science Foundation-funded project on distributed algorithms for mobile agents that are navigating through various geometric spaces while performing cooperative tasks like search and evacuation. Bushta and another student research assistant created dynamic interactive visualizations of some intricate algorithms using the D3 JavaScript library.

“David is super-smart, is always eager to learn things, seeks out challenges, and is happy to teach anyone interested in how he is doing it,” says Shende, Bushta’s faculty research advisor and mentor, who nominated Bushta for the Future Leader Award.

Outside of class and research work, Bushta, of Cherry Hill, tutors fellow students in calculus, computer programming, and physics.

Bushta is a 2017 Camden County College alum, with an associate’s degree in game design and development.

He graduated from Cherry Hill High School West in 2013.
