Grand Opening of Community, A Walgreens Pharmacy, at Rutgers University-Camden on Tuesday, Dec. 11

Sent Monday, Dec. 3, 2018

To the Campus Community:

As an anchor institution, Rutgers University–Camden contributes to the economic vitality of our state and our host city every day. Camden is rising as a city of exceptional opportunity, and we are excited to share that message far and wide. When our Nursing and Science Building opened last year, space was created on the street level to stimulate retail growth in our city.

I am pleased to announce that Community, A Walgreens Pharmacy, has located in one of those spaces. This specialty pharmacy focuses on community-based, patient-centered care for managing complex health conditions, such as cancer, cystic fibrosis, and HIV/AIDS. Members of the campus community will be able to fill prescriptions as well.

Accessible from the Federal Street side of the Nursing and Science Building, Walgreens joins Chase, Subway, and 7-Eleven as retailers who have chosen to make a difference in Camden by partnering with Rutgers. Similarly, we are proud that Symphony in C has chosen Rutgers University–Camden as home for its orchestral performances.

We will celebrate the opening of this Walgreens pharmacy with a special event at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11. I encourage you to join me in welcoming our new neighbor during this special event. For more information, please contact Lisa Holmes in the campus events office at
