To the Campus Community:

Every day we have reason to be proud of Rutgers University–Camden. On Saturday, April 28, thousands of visitors experienced our special way of demonstrating Scarlet Pride when we hosted Rutgers Day 2018.

Throughout the day, Rutgers University–Camden was bustling with an amazing range of activity, including musical performances by students, a mini “forensics” exhibition, henna tattoos, admissions tours, alumni gatherings, lessons on how to tie a turban, and lots of food and fun. Our guests were engaged in interactions highlighting how Rutgers University–Camden is an integral part of life in South Jersey and the Delaware Valley.

Months of planning and creative work went into ensuring the success of this event. Our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community participants revealed the research, academic, service, and social elements that define Rutgers–Camden as a supportive and exciting place. Visitors were greeted by friendly faces and were offered many opportunities to become part of the Rutgers spirit that is surging in South Jersey. Our followers on social media found a stream of images and messages that generated excitement throughout the entire day.

We certainly achieved the Rutgers Day mission to connect Rutgers–Camden to our region and once again proved that our campus is truly special. I believe that our friends and every member of our campus community who visited had the chance to learn something new about Rutgers–Camden.

So many members of our community worked to make certain that Rutgers Day in Camden realized its full potential. Many of you were here to greet our guests; even more of you worked behind the scenes beforehand as members of the Rutgers Day planning committee or to make sure that the grounds and facilities looked stellar. The day was a true point of pride for our institution, and I salute your dedicated work. Thank you.

While I cannot list by name every individual who contributed to this success, I would be remiss if I did not thank Kristin Walker (director, campus events) and her team for their leadership in planning and executing this event. The high quality of the Rutgers Day experience exemplifies the professionalism and attention to detail that Kristin and her team bring to virtually every event on our campus. As they pivot from Rutgers Day to preparing our busy schedule of commencement activities, please join me in thanking them for their work.

Rutgers Day in Camden was an incredibly successful display of how Rutgers University–Camden connects with the region. Thank you, as always, for your commitment to the success of Rutgers University–Camden and I look forward to seeing many of you at the faculty/staff picnic tomorrow.
