Celebrating the Research Achievements of our Faculty and Students

Sent Wednesday, April 4, 2018

To the Campus Community:

As a research institution, innovation and inquiry are at the heart of what we do here at Rutgers University–Camden. Our stature as a global center for path-defining research continues to rise because of the visionary explorations conducted by our faculty. As importantly, many of our students work alongside their professors on original research that sharpens their skills as critical thinkers and problem- solvers.

Earlier this year, I announced the creation of the Chancellor’s Awards for Outstanding Research and Creative Activity as one way to call attention to our excellence in this area. I am proud to announce the 2018 recipients of this campus-wide honor:

Prof. Michael Carrier (distinguished professor, RLAW)
Dr. Angelica Gonzalez (assistant professor, FASC-biology)
Dr. Jun Guo (assistant professor, SBC-accounting)
Dr. Shauna Shames (assistant professor, FASC-political science)
Dr. Andrew Shankman (associate professor, FASC-history)

We will present these awards during the 2018 Chancellor’s Spring Research Symposium on Friday, April 13. “The Fair Housing Act at 50: Successes, Failures and Opportunities” will assemble some of Rutgers University–Camden’s finest scholars, along with other national thought leaders, in an interdisciplinary discussion about this critical matter of public policy and equity. More information about the symposium is available here.

The research symposium will conclude our annual Research Week celebration of discovery, which begins with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences’ Third Annual Faculty Research Fellow Lecture, featuring the work of Dr. Mark Zaki (associate professor, FASC-music). We will highlight student-generated research during the Celebration of Graduate Research and Creative Activities on Tuesday, April 10, and the Celebration of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity on Thursday, April 12.

We have many reasons to be proud of the research and other achievements that occur every day here at Rutgers University–Camden. Please join me in congratulating the winners of the Chancellor’s Awards for Outstanding Research and Creative Activity and celebrating the research of our faculty and students. I look forward to seeing you at some or all of these events during Research Week.

Phoebe A. Haddon, J.D., LL.M.
Chancellor
