Theater Program Ushers in Spring Season with Hit Broadway Musical “Avenue Q”

By Tom McLaughlin

The Rutgers University–Camden theater program will usher in the spring season with a presentation of the hit Broadway musical “Avenue Q” – winner of the Tony Award “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book – in the Walter K. Gordon Theater, located in the Fine Arts Complex at 314 Linden Street on the Rutgers−Camden campus.

Evening performances are 7:30 p.m. each night beginning Wednesday, April 11, to Saturday, April 14. There will also be a high school matinee performance at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, and a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15.

Directed and choreographed by Ellie Mooney, “Avenue Q” is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood.

Tickets are $15 for general admission; $10 for faculty, staff, and alumni; and $8 for students. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Impact Booth in the Campus Center, or by phone at (856) 225-6211.

For more information, including group rates, contact Brandon Borrelli at 856-225-2870 or, or the Department of Fine Arts at 856-225-6176.
