Writing and Design Lab to Participate in International Write-In

Calling all writers! The Writing and Design Lab at Rutgers University–Camden will participate in the International Write-In on Nov. 30.

Students looking for a quiet place to work are encouraged to visit the Writers House at Rutgers–Camden, located at 305 Cooper Street, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The International Write-In is an expanding movement that brings writers together in order to promote writing as a creative and civic activity. Participating educational institutions and arts organizations choose one day or week each year to host “write-in” events.

During the event, much of the Writers House at Rutgers–Camden will be dedicated to quiet writing space for anyone who’d like to make progress on a project.

“There’s very little programming planned; the goal is to come and write together in solidarity since writing tends to be such a solitary activity,” says Travis duBose, director of the Writing and Design Lab at Rutgers–Camden.

Rutgers–Camden has invited members of the Camden-based Latin American Economic Development Authority and the African Diaspora Writers group, a community writing group that has used the house for about a year now.

“We also welcome any community members who want to come in for a cup of coffee and some writing time,” says duBose.
