Veterans Affairs to Host Seventh Annual Veterans Day Luncheon

The Office of Veterans Affairs will host the seventh annual Veterans Day luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5.

veteransdayluncheon-2015The luncheon, a special thanks to Rutgers–Camden students and alumni who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room on the main level of the Campus Center.

The keynote speaker will be Brigadier General Wilbur E. Wolf III, director of the joint staff for the Pennsylvania National Guard. Wolf is responsible for managing programs and operations for the Pennsylvania joint staff and oversees issues that impact 19,000 members of the Pennsylvania National Guard. The joint programs include Deployment Cycle Services, Civil Support Team, Homeland Response Force, State Partnership Program, Counter Drug Task Force, and Military Support to Civil Authorities.

Several honors and commendations will also be awarded during the luncheon, including outstanding male and female student veterans at Rutgers–Camden.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, a wreath will be laid at the Jeremy Kane Memorial, located adjacent to the Campus Center. Kane was a lance corporal in the United States Marine Corps and a criminal justice major at Rutgers–Camden. The 22-year-old was killed by a suicide bomb attack while on patrol in the Helmand Province in Afghanistan in January 2010.
