On Friday, Feb. 21, our campus marked a historic occasion with the inaugural meeting of the Rutgers–Camden Board of Directors.
The members of the board were sworn in and Gerald Harvey, chair of the Rutgers Board of Governors, was elected chair of our Board of Directors. The newly constituted board also elected Camden Mayor Dana Redd SBC ’96 and Robert Mortensen to serve on the joint Rowan/Rutgers–Camden Board of Governors. These are excellent candidates to represent Rutgers–Camden on this new regional entity, as both board members have a deep appreciation for the strengths of our campus developed over years of connection to Rutgers–Camden.
A full listing of the membership of the Board of Directors is available at http://governingboards.rutgers.edu/camden-board-directors/membership-photos-bios.
While last week’s meeting focused on establishing the policies and procedures critical to the successful and efficient function of a board for a public institution, I know that the members of our Board of Directors are committed to learning more about the opportunities for advancing our campus. I look forward to working with them, and with the members of the Rowan/Rutgers–Camden Board of Governors, as we continue to grow our ability to serve our students and the citizens of New Jersey.
During the meeting, I presented an overview of our campus that is posted online at http://www.camden.rutgers.edu/pdf/BoardDirectors.pdf. I encourage you to review the presentation and to continue to share your ideas and observations with me.
